Coastal deposits featuring sedimentary sequences from shallow-marine coastal environments with trace fossils (Ophiomorpha isp.) and coal fragments within sandstone layers.
The Shoreface Deposit Simpang Sweetman is located in the northwest of Labuan Island and is relatively sheltered from public access. It showcases a succession of rocks from the Belait Formation, dating back approximately 23-5 million years, formed by the deposition of sediments in a shallow marine coastal environment.
Evidence of these depositional processes can be clearly seen through ripple marks, cross-bedding and cross-lamination in the sandstone layers. Coal laminations and fragments, as well as fresh coal clasts, are also easily found at this geosite. The trace fossil Ophiomorpha isp. is also present here.
In terms of landforms, the area displays a variety of coastal features such as sandy beaches, rocky shores, headlands and pocket beaches, making it a unique example of coastal depositional landscapes in Labuan.
River channel deposits from approximately 15 million years ago, part of the lower Belait Formation. Fresh outcrops exhibit near-horizontal thick sandstone layers. A scenic and diverse coastal landscape with alternating sandy and rocky shorelines, featuring sea caves and arches in several locations.

Thickly bedded sandstone layers representing ancient tidal-influenced river channels. Abundant shallow marine trace fossils such as Ophiomorpha isp. and Teichichnus isp. are visible. Exceptionally well-developed tafoni (honeycomb weathering structures) formed by salt spray from the sea, creating intricate voids on coastal rock surfaces.

Exposing high-quality, fresh rock surfaces showcasing large-scale cross-bedding with embedded coal fragments, a unique feature not recorded elsewhere in Malaysia. Characterised by a broad tidal flat displaying current and wave ripple structures at low tide, with visible Belait Formation strata extending offshore toward Pulau Ular, and a natural sea arch sculpted by wave erosion.
